Biografie Raul D' Jam

Life is all about making choices. That's what Raul de Jamonez (other bands: Vive la Fête (keyboards) and Elysian (bass)) thought when he - growing up with hardrock bands like Iron Maiden, AC/DC and Motörhead - got into the juicy electronic sound of bands like Front242, Kraftwerk and Einstürzende Neubauten. So in clubs with rock and dance zones, choices had to be made. Raul wanted to be in between: one ear focused on the guitars, the other on the beats. The hard life of a libra.

All of a sudden it came to him: why not combine the two instead of having to choose? Musical bigamy as it were: mixing heavy guitar riffs with analogue synths, scratches and juicy beats. Call it headbangable electro rock. Raul did not want to create the umpteenth laptop project, but a real band. And that's how Raul d'Jam was formed, with singer Tara Lee Scott, drummer Frank McOwl and keyboard player Ron Dax. Live they get pretty heavy: crashing beats, loads of guitar violence and edgy lyrics. According to the band members, their show is only complete when they see die-hard dance freaks playing air guitar. Raul d'Jam on stage means: mostly own material, but also a few juicy remixes of great bands like Placebo, Nirvana and Foo Fighters.

A dodgy record mogul from Berlin once promised them: "Ich mache euch Zuppastars". Raul d'Jam kindly declined the German offer, but it did get them a title for their first full-cd: Zuppastar. This album is the result of two years of hard labour: looking for the right riffs, the best sounds, and most importantly, the right songs. The band could even count on some guest musicians like Axl Peleman. Right now, Raul d'Jam is working on two new albums: This Funk Is Gone To Heaven (own material) and The Ambassador Of Fun (remixes). The result is once more: danceable electronics, but nice 'n juicy!
